The Emmy’s are usually, aside from whatever that awards show is they have in England, pretty boring. This year, though, thanks to TV being fucking fabulous at the moment the carpet was pretty great.
This dress is both joyful and intelligent – like Ellie herself.
This is 100% the way Jenna (her character on 30 Rock) would pose on the red carpet.
I think this dress would come over far better in person, but ehhh dishwater coloured gowns look good on no one. Accessories game strong, though.
With her much deserved Emmy win, Viola Davis made history, becoming the first black woman to win Outstanding Actress in a Drama. If you’ve not seen it yet, you should watch her acceptance speech, she’s brilliant.
It is entirely possible that this is perfect. It’s modern (Haaaaaha) her accessories are on fucking point, just everything.
Aubrey needs to be in another show; someone cast her in a new hit series quick smart, ok? Because she’s great. Also great, this look.
Side note: Anyone else reckon she could be Lizzie Caplan’s deeply sarcastic little sister? (Actually, where was Lizzie Caplan?)
Can we all just take a moment to imagine this without the GOT-ish neck/sleeve bit? Yeah.
I think the women of the Modern Family cast had a bit of a theme going with their dress choices tonight, they all picked sculptural, MODERN gowns. Worked out well for Ariel because she looks the best she’s ever looked on the carpet.
Jessica Lange is such a BOSS woman, rocking this look like its nobody’s business.
Stephan Merchant hero to all giant, lanky nerds everywhere. There’s hope yet guys.
I think Lavern Cox is my best dressed of the night, I mean, you can’t fault that, she’s emanating perfection.
A+ from the waist up, we’ll just forget about the rest.
I’m scared that this is about an inch too short and that her shoes are reminiscent of 1991 school formals. Points for everything else though, especially the lip colour.
As much as this dress was ridiculed online, you can rest assured Heidi was the only one not dying in a pool of her sweat so, whose laughing now?
I’m not entirely sure why I like this but I really, really do. I think it’s the shoulder bit, and probably the fact that she is so cool.
Digging this cut on Amy, and how appropriate it is for wearing in 38-degree heat (resort-y). Also, hair colour.
Dress is classic JLD; diamonds are classic Chopard (really fucking expensive). When is Veep back on? I miss it.
I like this standing still but I’m unsure about when in motion, that fringe could get tiresome. I am, though, very obsessed with her jewellery! Who does it!? Everyone has had crazy good jewellery tonight.
Let’s pause for a moment and appreciate how damn hot it would be to wear head to toe black in 38-degree sun. If it were me, my skin tone would match the carpet. Props to her for keeping it cool and not fainting.
Taraji could sell me on any dress, she’s just that mega.
See what I mean with he Modern Family theme? This is fine; I wish it were emerald green to match her ring and earrings. Also, everyone is doing this messy bob; one side tucked behind an ear look tonight.
Emmy Winner! Amy Schumer in Zac PosenZac Posen is the king of the sculptural dress, and his signature works perfectly on Amy. I’m mad that they didn’t give her any jewels, though, not even a ring? Also, her hair looks kind of crazy here but it didn’t in real life (on the TV) so that you know.
Side note: I did not realise until now how large the Emmy statue is, that thing could knock a dude out.
This dress is fresh off the runway Marc Jacobs; it showed at NYFW lask week so points to Kerry’s team for being able to score it. She looks great in it too, better than the model I think, and it makes a nice departure from her usual, super feminine looks. Also, did anyone catch that Apple Music ad? I wish I were the awkward white girl in that friendship group.
