Opinions continue to be divided on the credibility of the Kardashian/Jenner family but when it comes to Bruce Jenner’s transformation into Caitlyn, we seem to be united in our affection. There are, naturally, some haters but those few who hate seem to focus less on Caitlyn and more in the fact that we are constantly being bombarded with images of these ‘annoying, fame hungry assholes.’
Fame hungry they may be but all the best people who find themselves to be famous use that fame as a platform to shed light on a cause or issue that otherwise wouldn’t get the time of day. Caitlyn is using the fame she gained as a part of television’s most talked about family to make us talk about something that actually matters, gender transition.
You could continue to be a sceptic and discount the whole thing as just another money ploy concocted by the fame-obsessed. Or, you could use your brain and realise that a) the intention doesn’t matter as long as the outcome positively benefits the cause and b) No one is THAT fame-obsessed. We believed her when she told Diane Sawyer she wanted to change the world, and we believe that she might have a shot at doing so. Props to Vanity Fair for being the ones to give her the cover and props to Caitlyn for landing it, shot by Annie Leibovitz no less. You look fucking awesome.
