After much anticipation and excitement, KARL by Karl Lagerfeld is now finally here. Being the lower-priced of Lagerfeld’s two new women’s collections, “KARL” and “Karl Lagerfeld Paris”, the KARL line was launched at 10am exclusively on Net-a-porter this morning. With each piece apparently priced between 60 and 300 euros, fashionistas all over the world can now purchase from the KARL collection which features the designer’s signature style.
Current president of the fashion house, Karl Lagerfeld BV, Pier Paolo Righi has been heavily involved in launching the two additional collections, describing the KARL line to Women’s Wear Daily (WWD) to be of a “street and rock” aesthetic.
Of the collections, Lagerfeld himself told WWD, ”I just want not too expensive clothes that people may like and perhaps want to wear… That was my concept for a long time, but my business partners in the past wanted to be like Chanel or Fendi without putting behind what is needed to be like that … Now I am feeling we are ready for the right job — the way to do things right in a modern, unusual way.”
Consisting of crisp shirts, detachable collars, leather biker jackets, fingerless gloves, and of course, an abundance of black and white, the 100-piece collection is available exclusively to Net-a-porter until February 28, where KARL will become available on Lagerfeld’s selftitled website. Now we can all look as nonchalant as the man himself, or at least, pretend to. Shop your hearts out, fashionistas.
